Recyclart by Jeana was really an idea borne of a love I developed for garage sales, thrift stores, etc… as a “poor” high school/college student.  In addition to the obvious frugality of using second-hand materials to create, I also enjoy the inherent challenges it presents and feel much better about utilizing what’s basically floating around out there rather than adding more waste to this already over-burdened planet of ours.  Also, there is something rather serendipitous about the whole process.  I have no formal training in the visual art, per se.  In college, I studied Public Health, Psychology, and Women’s Studies primarily, with more of an emphasis on writing than anything else.  Friendships with artists fluent in various media and serious interpersonal struggles led me to seek out new and different ways to uncover and express what lingers within at, for the most part, un or sub-conscious levels.  If I had but one goal for my methods or my little creations, it would be that they inspire others, for we are all artists with latent creativity just waiting to be discovered and nurtured. As is often the case in life, it is the process not the final product that offers the most tangible, lasting rewards.  So, fear not my darlings.  We were all born to create! –Jeana  Sommers
